Modern Slavery Statement
We, Beat Capital Partners Limited (“BCPL”), are committed to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain.
We are a long duration venture capital investor exclusively focused on the insurance industry. BCPL and its wider group companies are collectively referred to within this statement as the Beat Group. The Beat Group has over 100 employees and operates in the United Kingdom, Bermuda and the United States.
The Beat Group has a global annual turnover of £36 million or more.
Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
We recognise that modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms including: slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. We are committed to being a responsible business, in all our dealings and relationships, which includes improving business practices, systems and controls to combat slavery and human trafficking.
We have appropriate policies in place that underpin our commitment to ensure that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. We continuously review and update all our policies.
This statement reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains. We also have the following policies in place which are published to all staff and we continuously review and update:
- BCPL Environmental, Social and Governance Policy.
- BCPL Staff Handbook.
- BCPL Financial Crime Policy.
- BCPL Sanctions Policy.
- BCPL Whistleblowing Policy.
- BCPL Anti-Bribery and Gifts & Hospitality Policy.
We provide mandatory training to our staff, who adhere to the standards outlined in these policies.
Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we aim to include robust anti-modern slavery clauses in relevant supply contracts. We also implement a Whistleblowing Policy across the Beat Group, to foster a culture of openness and to ensure the Beat Group conducts its business with the highest standards of integrity and honesty.
We have in place systems to:
- Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains.
- Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains.
- Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains.
- Protect whistle blowers.
Supplier adherence to our values
We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking.
We have a dedicated Compliance Team, which, together with assistance from Asta Managing Agency Limited, consists of involvement from the following departments:
- Legal
- Operations
- Human Resources
- Finance
Our effectiveness in combating slavery and human trafficking
We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs), to measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:
- The number of reported breaches made to us, in the past year.
- Remedial action. The instances of remedial action being needed.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the Beat Group’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2023. It was approved by the BCPL board on 25th June 2024.
